While the challenges of electronic crime are enormous and immediate, the police and other regulatory agencies acknowledge the need to provide effective crime prevention and enforcement services in the electronic era.

The Australian High Tech Crime Centre (AHTCC) was formed to address the need for a coordinated approach to combating high tech crime in Australia. The AHTCC investigates serious, complex, multi-jurisdictional high tech crimes.

They do this by concentrating on a number of key focus areas, such as prevention and education programs, which aim to create a safer community, increase education about electronic crime and how you can protect yourself.
